In light of the aviation
incident / accident statistics where maintenance
takes a active role today (50% of cases are related
to aircraft design; 50% of cases are related
to the ongoing maintenance of airworthiness),
the Aviation Authorities (JAA and then EASA)
now require that Maintenance Organisations and
Manufactures provide to their staff, Initial
Human Factors training as well as Recurrent training
over a two year cycle.
Human Factors can be defined as the interface
between the human element (with its limitations),
the aircraft, the maintenance system and flight
operations.
Air-Espace has developed since 2003, courses
meeting the requirements set by the Authorities.
These are conducted as interactive seminars,
covering the requirements of the official syllabus
of EASA Part 145. In addition, it is a great
opportunity for participants from different sectors
and hierarchical levels to exchange their points
of view and to take advantage of an external
instructor acting as a moderator and catalyst.
Initial courses are normally conducted
over a period of two days while the recurrent
training is concentrated over a single day, with
the emphasis placed on case studies, relevant
to the company activity, may it be for airplanes
or helicopters. Involving the company Quality
Manager is strongly recommended and desired.
To this day, approximately twelve companies are
partnering with Air-Espace in this area.
