In light of aviation incident and accident statistics, maintenance has been given a crucial role (50% of cases are related to aircraft design; 50% of cases to the ongoing maintenance of airworthiness). Aviation Authorities (JAA and EASA) Regulations therefore require that Maintenance Organisations and Manufactures provide their staff with Initial Human Factors Training as well as Recurrent Training run over a two-year cycle.

Human Factors can be defined as the interface between the human element (with its limitations), the aircraft, the maintenance system and the flight operations.

Since 2003, Air-Espace has been developing training courses which meet all regulatory requirements. The courses are conducted as interactive seminars, covering the official EASA Part 145 Syllabus. In addition, participants from different sectors and hierarchical levels are given an excellent opportunity to exchange their points of view under the guidance of an external instructor acting as a moderator and provoking stimulating discussions.

Initial training courses are usually run over a period of two days and recurrent training courses over a single day. Emphasis is placed on case studies covering either airplanes or helicopters. These studies are relevant to the Company’s business activity.Participation of the Company’s Quality Manager is highly recommended.

To date, about twelve companies have been working in close partnership with Air-Espace in this field.
